Cod skin is structurally very similar to human skin, which is why PROCEANIS® collagen drink is made from Atlantic cod collagen. From around the age of 25, collagen levels in connective tissue and skin begin to decline, while new collagen is formed mainly at night. The amino acid profile of cod collagen is particularly well suited to the skin: it is rich in glycine, proline and hydroxyproline – the main building blocks of skin collagen. Some of the peptides in the drink are so small that they are absorbed intact, while most are broken down into amino acids that the body uses to build new collagen.
